    You use the hammer end of the maul if you need to use a wedge also anything with knots an axe probably wouldnt be much use

      This is stronger than the interior 90, which is prone to crack over time and the vertex

    Why aren’t the pegs being driven all?

      The braces sit on the outside face of the post. The pegs only need to go in 3", not all the way through the post. I made all the pegs for hte structure the same length to keep things simple (other places pegs do need to go all the way through a large timber).

      I've never purchased timbers because I own a saw mill. If you paid a mill, you'd probably spend about 4k total for the frame and flooring in this area. You'd need to call a local mill and tell them your board feet or linear feet (however they price) to get an accurate quote.

      It makes the joists less likely to crack over time than 90 dgreee notch. This is a porch and the floor as designed is rated to have the same load as a living space, which is overkill for a porch.

      Didn't have a good sharpening system last summer and the slick came ground for hard wood, not pine. Have a solid sharpening set up now. 👍
